One thing before we get to the records. I was wishing there was a Spotify Wrapped type thing for gigs this year so I did the only sensible thing and made myself a spreadsheet. With two more gigs on deck, this year I saw…

93 sets from 78 bands at 23 venues in 4 states.

I saw Camp Trash three times and 13 other bands twice each.

The last two gigs will make it an even 100 sets from 83 bands at 24 venues in 5 states. Piebald will join Camp Trash in the Three Timers club. Cool.

One time I saw Piebald play in a Hollister store inside a mall. My brother crowdsurfed into a clothing rack. True story.

Live music is everything. Get to the gig. You won’t regret it. You might even see a kid crowdsurf into a clothing rack. I mean, probably not. But it’s possible in the right situation.

THE KIDS DON’T LIKE PHOEBE

For those who don’t know, I teach fourth grade. It’s usually fun. It’s often insane. Recently, for a quick writing assignment, I showed them Phoebe Bridgers’ “Kyoto” video and had them write their thoughts down. Needless to say, they were not fans. Maybe I’ll make another Phoebe-themed Tiktok, it will go semi-viral, and then Tiktok will ban me again for no reason.

Here are some of their unedited and unfiltered thoughts:

  • very cringe, very bad, very off brand Billie Eillish. They also had very bad green screen. 3/10

  • This is bad because killing godzilla with lazer eyes is not possible and godzilla is a savior to the city and killing godzilla is just bad. 1/10

  • Dear Mr. O, I HATE IT!! The green screen is just cheap. BOO

  • Too unrealistic. kinda crazy 1/10

  • I kind of liked it but also not. Rating = 0/10. I liked the background but not the song. It’s not my type. This is scammed. The video is made in 1886.

  • The song was nice and I like her voice. But I think she should make a better impression. FYI it was really STUPID and DUMB.

  • Hularyisly weird. 0.23/100. it’s okay. she looks posesed.

  • It’s very bad because the green screen is bad and her voice sounds like a fake billie elish its also cheesy

  • I like… the flowers around her, her voice. I don’t like… her outfit, the lyrics.

  • It was strange. It was also stupid. The green screen did NOT look good. cringe!!! why the scellation coustiom [skeleton costume]. her voice was okay though. 2/10

  • nope that is wrong that is 17 levels of wrong it is poop

  • has a decent voice, creepy, not really feeling it, interesting edits, it was okay, depressing, not really feeling it

  • Cringe but it’s kinda good… the red panda is cute tho! The green screen is sus. lol 4/10

  • The song was sus she was sus the song was 0 bugjet they used a greensreen looking like it was made in 2006 it was bad
