There's so much more than just catching the light right
So I stayed for more than just the view
Spotify Wrapped seems to come and go so fast. There are 48 hours where we’re flooded with it all over social, and then… that’s kinda it. I like Spotify, but remember that our subscription dollars are going to mis/disinformation spreader and actual piece of garbage Joe Rogan and not to the bands we love. So if you can, take a minute today, look at your Wrapped, and buy something directly from one of those bands. A shirt. Vinyl. A Patreon subscription. Tickets to a show. Anything. That purchase will make that band more money in ten seconds than all those hours you spent streaming them this year.
Spotify says I listened to 424 artists this year, and my top five was Bicycle Inn, Good Sleepy, Phoebe Bridgers, Wild Pink, and Cheekface. I wholeheartedly think you should listen to all five of them. My top five songs included two from Bicycle Inn and three from Camp Trash. 2022 is going to be huge for Camp Trash. Just wanted to get that on the internet so when it happens I can say I was right.
Speaking of shows, just this week I’m going to see The Wonder Years, Future Teens, Hot Mulligan, Sincere Engineer, Kevin Devine, and Stars. Last week I bought tickets for Wonder Years & Spanish Love Songs x2, and The Menzingers & Oso Oso & Sincere Engineer. Both tours are next year, and both have great lineups. Let’s hang!
Back to Wrapped for a second. It really bothers me that it drops in early December. I’ve still got a whole month of listening to do! Also, capitalism has failed. Two equally important problems here and nothing we can do about either.
Anyways, here’s the next Crit List. I’ve been listening to it in the car for the last two weeks or so. I think it has as solid a first seven tracks (see below) as any previous list, and then later there’s two new PUP songs, two songs from Weakened Friends’ great new record, three tunes from a fantastic Boston band (Pet Fox), a “Teenage Dirtbag” cover, and a band with huge Brand New vibes: Common Sage.
I hope you like every single song or at least one.

If you need a Christmas/Critmas playlist, I’ve got you covered there too. Enjoy.
