Walking backwards is a newfound superstition
We're tripping over every side of living
2020 is over.
Welcome to 2021, where everything is good now.
Just kidding.
~*~So this is the new year, and I don’t feel any different.~*~
Ahhhh yeah. That’s better.
Joe Biden owes me (and you) $2,000. Grimace from McDonald’s owes me $15. Pay up, bitches.
The phrase “Ya’ll just be saying anything” has been in my head all week. Iconic.
Y’all just be saying anything. Stonks?

Speaking of stonks… The stock market is just made up! Money is fake. Until you don’t have it, anyway. Then it - and the consequences of not having it - are very, very real. Cool economy we’ve got here in the good ol’ US of A. Collective action rules, go WSB go.
Okay, here are some great songs. Is this the best playlist ever? Maybe! Y’all just be saying anything! I hope you like them.

Snacking - “Genius, Actually”Camp Trash - “Weird Carolina”
Two EPs that grabbed me right away. Snacking has them real nice guitars I like. This EP is from 2018, but they have new music coming soon. The Camp Trash EP is brand new. It sounds like they would have been right at home opening an early 2000s Drive-Thru tour but also could be on a contemporary tour too. MoBo meets SoCo meets Somos?
Cheekface - “Listen to Your Heart. No.”
I can’t stop listening to Cheekface. I’m going to need to schedule a telehealth appointment with my primary care physician to address this issue. (That sounds like it would be one of their lyrics.) They’ve been on the Crit List before and here they are again. They just released their second record, and it is as catchy fun silly funny as the first.
The Flat Stanleys - “Me vs Your Friends”
Do you like The Front Bottoms? This band sounds just like them. Like, just like them.
Nervous Dater - “Middle Child”
This band came up a bunch on Spotify when I was listening to a lot of Great Grandpa last year. Makes sense. Similar vibes. This is a new song and it is very good.
Jetty Bones - “That’s All”
Another catchy track from Kelc, so it goes on the List. I expect nothing less from her. Very excited for her upcoming new record.
The Sonder Bombs - “What Are Friends For?”
Another band that has appeared on the List before. Their new record, Clothbound, came out this week, highly recommended. Check the whole thing out if you like this song, and also go back and check out Modern Female Rockstar as well.
Sincere Engineer - “Tourniquet”
Another artist making another appearance on the List. Another solid tune from Deanna.
Devon Kay & The Solutions - “Oh My, Oh My, We’re Far Past That Now”
How about a band that hasn’t been on the List before? Catchy power-pop with horns. You could call it horny.
Bartees Strange - “Stone Meadows”
Bartees is just so damn cool. My partner has been listening to him around the house a lot over the past few months and we watched him open for Thursday on their Signals 2.0 livestream.
Rat Tally - “Shrug”
This is for fans of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, or Soccer Mommy. Rat Tally (Addy Harris) is “writing sad music for sad people. Or happy people. Or whoever.” I’m not sure what the phrase “happy people” means. I’m more of a “sad people” or a “whoever” but I like her new single quite a bit.

I leave you with this incredible soundbite that is lodged in my brain. Enjoy the tunes.
